Meat Processor

Division/ Department: Operations

Reports to: Production Manager

Job Summary: The Meat Processing I is responsible for the day-to-day operation of equipment during operations. This is a hands-on role in which the employee is responsible for ensuring that all equipment is in good working order for the days production run and completing the production run. 

Essential Functions:

  • Organizes, works on, and leads production lines each day to ensure freeze drying of raw material.

  • Dice raw meat, form and blend with ingredients.

  • Inspects and review’s proper function, adjustment, and alignment of all production equipment daily.

  • Review of products for obvious quality problems – Examples include appearance, weight, and correct labels. 

  • Packaging of products using rules and guidelines of management.

  • Performs under no direction with the ability to perform solo

  • Can follow GMP’s and SOP’s and abide by all safe working rules and requirements.

  • Can train new staff correctly on Meat Processor I functions

  • Learns how to slide, and push meat

  • Knowledge of inspecting meat on conveyor and what to look for.

  • Model employee in regard to attendance, working with others and following company policies/procedures

  • Ability to problem solve 

  • Makes minimal mistakes

  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working area.

  • Recording any data as required.

  • Clean and sanitize all equipment at end of production.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Specific Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Relevant experience preferred.

  • Must be able effectively work and interact in a team environment.  

  • Assist other personnel to accomplish tasks. 

  • Previous experience in a meat processing facility highly desired.

  • Previous experience in a HACCP environment preferred.

  • Experience in an SQF certified facility desired.

Physical Demands/Work Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for long periods.

  • Must be able to bend and stoop regularly while working.

  • Must be able to complete moderately complex math problems and measurement conversions accurately and repetitively.

  • Must be able to repetitively lift a maximum of 50 lbs. waist high and over the shoulder.

  • Must be able to follow work instructions, effectively communicate information to co-workers and management, and write legibly.

  • Must be able to work in a cold and wet meat processing facility.

  • Must be able to comprehend the various phases of the position.

  • Must be able to work weekend overtime as requested.
