Quality Assurance Technician
Division/ Department: Quality
Reports to: VP of Quality and IT
Job Summary: The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for the testing of products and facilities to ensure their continued quality. According to established HACCP policies and procedures, tests and inspects products at various stages of the production process from raw material acceptance to finished product. Compiles and evaluates data to determine and maintain quality and consistency of products. Maintains all food safety documentation in the company archives.
Essential Functions:
Conduct routine inspections of all raw materials received. Ensuring all products meet specifications, quantities received, and correct lot information.
Conduct all inspections on in process quality and final packaging to meet or exceed documented specifications.
Help to promote quality & product safety to production personnel.
Perform routine finished product aging surveys.
Responsible for all scales set up and monitoring.
Help monitor production and warehouse for safety and GMP violations, effectively communicating any violation to the SQF Practitioner or Director of HR.
Records and communicates test data and any results that are non-conforming, to appropriate personnel. This includes preparing reports, charts, and/or entering data into a computer for analysis.
Maintain accurate file system.
Provides new recommendations to achieve optimum quality throughout the facility.
Responsible for facilitation of hold procedures.
Monitor all batching processes and paperwork for correctness.
Responsible for maintaining both finished product and in process sample room.
Responsible for all environmental monitoring (temperature/humidity).
During all food safety audits, this person will act as the data collection point for all departments.
Will be tasked with document collection and copying of documents during any mock recalls or true product recalls.
Responsible for pre & post production cleaning audits.
Communicate with SQF Practitioner when all jobs have been done.
Other duties as assigned.
Specific Requirements:
Ability to clearly and concisely communicate with all levels of employees in the manufacturing environment.
Ability to follow company laboratory procedures.
Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning software, experience with Macola ES preferred.
Some computer experience is required.
Associates degree or equivalent work experience preferred, High School Diploma required.
Willing to work overtime and some weekends as requested by management.
Assist other personnel to accomplish tasks from time to time.
Willing to travel as needed.
